Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov may have one of the most intense rivalries in all of MMA. But, following reports that Khabib’s father has died, McGregor has extended his condolences.

McGregor tweets out condolences

According to reports out of Russia, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov has died at the age of 57. The renowned coach fell ill in April, and soon after it was confirmed he had contracted COVID-19.

Nurmagomedov suffered severe complications from the virus and after a lengthy battle in hospital, he has reportedly died. More recently, McGregor shared out the comments below.

The loss of a father, a coach, and a dedicated supporter of the sport. Condolences and rest in peace Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

McGregor’s response here isn’t surprising, as when word that Abdulmanap was critically ill several weeks
back, he extended his well wishes then.

The former champ faced Khabib in 2018 and was submitted by the lightweight champ. The lead-up to the bout was one of the most intense in UFC history, and McGregor made various, inflammatory comments about Nurmagomedov and his background.

McGregor’s coach also offers his well wishes

Earlier today, McGregor’s longtime coach, John Kavanagh, also shared out his well wishes to the Nurmagomedov family.
