Britney Spears Dolly Parton confederate statue petitions

Confederate statues are tumbling across the South as Black Lives Matter protesters target them for destruction with the help of some politicians. Now, there is a push to replace some of those statues with new ones honoring Britney Spears and Dolly Parton.

People in the home states of these two singers are making the move for these changes. Louisiana resident Kassie Thibodeaux has a Change.org petition for Confederate statues to be replaced with Spears, the “Oops, I Did It Again” singer. Similarly, Alex Parsons has a petition demanding the same for Dolly Parton in Tennessee.

There have been many questions regarding what will replace these statues. Lots of fans believe these two women are excellent choices as they are both well known and generous to their communities.

While pop star Taylor Swift hasn’t joined the calls for Dolly Parton statues be erected in her home state, the liberal singer is calling for the Confederate statues to come down.

Thousands Sign Dolly Parton And Britney Spears Statue Petitions

Many may dismiss these requests for replacement statues as being silly, but they are gaining some steam. The petition for Dolly Parton statues is currently at almost 15,000 signatures. Britney Spears statues appear to be even more popular with over 40,00o signatures.

“Do the right thing: Replace the Confederate statues with an actual louisiana (SIC) hero and influencial (SIC) human being, Britney Spears,” the Pelican state petition reads before listing Spears’ charitable contributions to her home state.

It claims Spears is an “inspiration to millions . . . by not only overcoming highly publicized mental breakdown, but by continuously working towards improving herself.”

Spears is well remembered for shaving her blonde hair off in 2007 as her world was crumbling. over 32,000 people and counting believe she would serve as a respectable replacement for the Confederate statues.

Dolly Parton’s Charitable Work

The Dolly Parton statue petition begins by saying, “Tennessee is littered with statues memorializing confederate officers. History should not be forgotten, but we need not glamorize those who do not deserve our praise. Instead, let us honor a true Tennessee hero, Dolly Parton.”

The petition also mentions all of the good the “Jolene” singer has done through her charitable work. Especially with regard to her philanthropy helping children in Tennessee and throughout the country.

Dolly Parton has even been honored by the Library of Congress for the positive impact the singer has made with her Imagination Library.

These two petitions are definitely gaining steam as they’ve added thousands of signatures just today. What do you think of replacing a Confederate statue with that of a pop or country music icon? Do you consider these two as historical figures?

For now, the question remains whether these statutes will be replaced or reset following the nationwide protests.
