Justin Gaethje

Justin Gaethje pursued a fight with Conor McGregor for quite some time, to no avail, and now the new interim lightweight champ’s reminding the star of that fact.

Gaethje responds to McGregor

A couple of days after Gaethje bested Tony Ferguson to UFC 249, and laid claim to the interim title, McGregor proceeded to warn that he’s going to “butcher” the dangerous fighter. In addition, the former champ also claimed that he, and not the current champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov, will end up fighting Gaethje.

Well, more recently, Gaethje shared out the comments and video highlights below.

McGregor reacts

McGregor did respond to Gaethje, but as this is being written, he only offered up an emoji. That’s somewhat surprising, given that the whole point of Gaethje’s video montage was to remind McGregor that he didn’t take him up on numerous challenges.

Further, aside from saying he was willing to fight Gaethje, by McGregor’s standards, he didn’t say much about the lightweight contender all last year. It was reported that McGregor had the option to fight Gaethje or Donald Cerrone this past January, and his camp chose the latter.

All this aside, as it stands right now, Gaethje is expected to fight Nurmagomedov later this year, likely in September.
