Justin Gaethje appears to be next for Khabib Nurmagmedov, as a result of his impressive, stoppage win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 249. But, apparently, Conor McGregor thinks he’s going to end up facing the new interim champ next, and he’s fired off a pretty fierce warning shot.
McGregor vows to “butcher” Gaethje, blasts Khabib Nurmagomedov again
Leading up to UFC 249, the consensus was that Ferguson would likely get by the dangerous Gaethje, and secure yet another booking with the champ, Nurmagmedov. Gaethje, however, put on his best performance to date, and punished “El Cucuy” en route to a fifth-round stoppage.
As a result of his new interim belt, Gaethje fielded questions about facing Khabib after the bout. But, on Monday, McGregor made sure his name entered the conversation.
How so? By tweeting out a series of very intense tweets (warning: graphic language to follow).
Here are some of the comments McGregor made.

Now, if you’re wondering what the “father” reference is too, last year, after a video surfaced which showed McGregor allegedly striking an elderly man in a pub, Gaethje trashed McGregor over the incident.
He also argued that the star should be mindful of how his actions could be perceived by his children.

McGregor also tossed out his go to “rat” insult, while talking about Khabib.

Reaction?
Now, the fact McGregor is blasting Khabib again isn’t surprising. But, his fired up tone in relation to Gaethje is interesting. After all, Gaethje repeatedly trashed McGregor last year, and for the most part, the star didn’t say much back.
That aside, could we possibly see Gaethje and McGregor fight before “The Highlight” faces Khabib? It’s not impossible. But, chances are Gaethje will wait for his chance to win the undisputed lightweight title.
