Harry And Meghan Under Pressure To Return The ‘Millions’ They Owe The UK

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle find themselves in hot water this week as pressure mounts in the United Kingdom for them to pay back the millions of dollars that the Duke and Duchess promised they would repay to the UK by now.

UK Desperately Needs The Money Harry And Meghan Promised To Repay

According to The U.K. Express, reporter Dawn Neesom spoke out to explain that the UK desperately needs the money as the nation struggles to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle promised that they’d pay the money back by now.

“Basically they owe us £2.4million for the ‘tiny’ 10-bedroom Frogmore Cottage that taxpayers renovated,” Neesom said. “Why are we giving them terms on this? They’ve got between them millions in the bank. They’re paying millions to rent their mansion in LA at the moment.”

“Just give us the money back now,” she added. “It’s not like the country doesn’t need it at the moment, is it?”

Harry And Meghan Aren’t Strapped For Cash

The British are getting particularly frustrated given the fact that it’s known that Harry and Meghan are not strapped for cash right now.

It was also reported that British taxpayers are still funding Harry and Meghan’s security detail, albeit indirectly, as Prince Charles has given the couple £2million to help with their security costs. 

“We are still as far as we know paying out a bit for their security aren’t we?” talkRADIO’s Mike Graham asked royal expert Charles Rae. 

“We are because at the moment Prince Charles is giving them £2million a year,” Rae said. “It is going to be looked at in 12 months. It is to help pay for some of that security so they are getting money.”

“The problem with them is that they moved to Canada and then the States because they were going to start careers,” he added. 

“Meghan was presumably going to go back into showbiz and then along comes coronavirus and squashes all of their plans. Everybody’s plans have been screwed up and they are no different. I don’t know where they are going to get that money from though in the future.”

Living In Luxury

While Meghan and Harry are clearly in no rush to pay back British taxpayers, they are living in the lap of luxury in Beverly Hills, California.

There they reside in the $18 million mansion of Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry. A cush living arrangement lined up by none other than Oprah Winfrey.

The fact that these two can’t even be bothered to pay back the millions of dollars they owe is yet another slap in the face to the British taxpayers. The very people who have funded Harry’s extravagant lifestyle since the royal was born. 

Harry and Meghan might want to start working a little harder to find a permanent home in Hollywood. Especially since it does not look like the pair will be welcomed back to the UK anytime soon.
