We wrap up the wrestling week with another SmackDown In A Nutshell. The big draw tonight, of course, is celebrating Hunter’s 25 years.
It’s certainly something to talk about, considering what Hunter has done in such a long and storied career. That, and it may be an indication of an easy thing to do, to keep the staffing down to a minimum.
Of course, it can’t ALL be about the boss (at least, the boss of NXT). There is that upcoming Money In The Bank PPV to figure out, too.
With that in mind, we can expect some more names to qualify for the chance at that game-changing briefcase.
So, without any more delay, it’s time to crack open this Nutshell-all about celebrating Hunter’s 25 years!
Honestly, there were some entertaining matches, but nothing really memorable. I don’t think there was one that I’d really feel great about calling “match of the night”.
That said, if you wanted to press me for it, I think I’d go with the Lucha House Party over Miz and Morrison.
Yes, I never thought I’d type that either.
How about Sheamus and Mr. Vito?
At least it was short, I suppose.
Nope, no crowds, no chants.
WWE would have us believe the star was Hunter, being that it was his anniversary night.
Beyond that, I’d say no one really was a standout. Lacey had a big win, so perhaps I could pick on her?
How about the Forgotten Sons, making their presence felt in a big way this week.
Mr. Vito gets this one. Absolutely no question about that.
I have two choices here.
Lucha House Party, with the announcers rightly calling it a shocking upset. They’ve been used a lot, but they have not had much success lately.
The other would be Lacey Evans getting the MITB spot, over Sasha Banks.
The Forgotten Sons might actually have a chance to stand out, if Friday’s actions mean much.
Beyond that, how about Vince McMahon himself showing up to wrap up the celebration for Hunter’s 25 years. We have not seen much of McMahon lately, so it was a sight for sure.
Of course, he kept his distance, at least on camera.
Nothing standing out for me.
Maybe the 25th anniversary segment made you laugh? I mean, Hunter and HBK certainly appeared to be enjoying themselves…
I think we got to see big wins or statements from Lacey Evans, the Forgotten Sons and Lucha House Party.
We shall see what they mean, if anything. For Lacey, her win means something, as it got her in the MITB match.
Either you loved the 25th anniversary segment, or you hated it. Since I feel like it could be taken either way…it’s going here and the next spot too.
Wasn’t really sure I liked that, between the phone calls and the inside jokes and Vince giving them the hook. I mean, it was OK, but I wasn’t loving it.
See, I told you that anniversary segment could go here too.
It did fill pretty much the last half hour of the show (I think), so yay for that?
I like seeing Lacey win, and getting a big statement from the Sons. Let’s see if WWE pushes those folks a bit.
Of course, the other side of the Lacey win was Sasha losing…and maybe more cracks showing.
Was it a bad show? No.
Wasn’t a great show either, in my opinion. The signature segment-the celebration-was love it or leave it, in my opinion.
I don’t object if you loved it. I won’t trash you if you hated it.
Some parts I liked, some I didn’t…but I think that segment really and truly warranted a delay until a live audience and appearances could have happened.
