Beloved “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek announced that he will be releasing a new memoir in July as he celebrates beating the dismal one-year survival statistic that his cancer carries.
The longtime “Jeopardy!” host is releasing a personal memoir chronicling some of his most memorable moments.
Trebek’s book will cover a variety of topics, taking fans behind the scenes of his personal life and marriage like never before.
Most notably, the 79-year-old will discuss his career hosting “Jeopardy!” in the book, which he has hosted since 1984.
And, of course, the book will answer burning fan questions like “what prompted him to shave his signature mustache, his insights on legendary players like Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer, and his opinion of Will Ferrell’s Saturday Night Live impersonation.”
Trebek’s memoir “The Answer Is… : Reflections on My Life” will be released on July 21 by Simon & Schuster, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“For over three decades, Trebek had resisted countless appeals to write a book about his life. Yet he was moved so much by all the goodwill, he felt compelled to finally share his story,” Simon & Schuster said in a statement about the book.
“I want people to know a little more about the person they have been cheering on for the past year,” Trebek reportedly writes in the memoir.
This announcement comes weeks after Trebek shared in a Twitter video that he had beaten the one-year survival rate for stage 4 pancreatic cancer patients, which is only 18 percent.

“There were moments of great pain,” he said. “Moments when certain bodily functions no longer functioned and some massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it was really worth fighting on. But I brushed that aside very quickly, because that would have been a massive betrayal” of his wife and family, his fans and his belief in God.”
Trebek went on to say that while the two year survival rate for his cancer is just 7 percent, both he and his doctor are confident that he will be around next year to give another update.

Social media users have been responding to the update with words of praise for Trebek.
“Alex Trebek is an inspiration for so many patients, doctors, and human beings,” one social media user commented. He has a fighting spirit that is as powerful as anything modern medicine has to offer. Because no matter how advanced our treatments and chemotherapy can be, it’s the will to fight that matters most.”
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to get a behind-the-scenes look into Trebek’s 30+ years of hosting. Not to mention a deeper glimpse into the man that became legend.
God bless Alex Trebek for showing us what a true fighter really is. We’re all pulling for you, Alex!
