Country Music Stars React To Tornado That Tore Up Nashville

The damage in Nashville from a direct hit by a tornado overnight is astounding. At least 19 people lost their lives to this beast of a storm. Some of Country Music’s biggest stars are praying for their beloved Music City and finding ways to help those affected.

Storms left many homes and buildings without power not just in downtown Nashville, but also throughout several counties in the area. In the city, dozens of buildings were destroyed. The Germantown area of the city took a big hit that ripped apart office buildings and apartment complexes.

Tornadoes were reported at least three different times along a 145-mile stretch. Monday night was a terrifying time for people in central Tennessee.

Nashville Area Airport Hit By Tornado

These storms were so intense that it tossed airplanes and cars at the John C. Tune airport around as the tweeted video below show.

The people of Nashville have faith and country music on their side. They might be down right now, but they certainly won’t be counted out.

Country stars who got their big breaks in Music City are rallying to the cause.

Reba McEntire sent prayers though an Instagram post. It can be challenging to think of the right words to offer in the aftermath of a crisis, but Reba said what many people are thinking.

“My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the Nashville area affected by the tornado last night,” she wrote in the post below. “Even if the tornado didn’t hit our personal space, we are all affected because we are Nashvillians. My heart hurts for Nashville this morning. #sendingprayers.”

Carrie Underwood’s Family Seek Shelter

Carrie Underwood is currently on a book tour so she was not home when the tornado hit. However, her husband, NHL star Mike Fisher, was in Tennessee with their two young sons. The storm got so bad at their home that Mike and the boys were forced to seek shelter.

“He said he had to go upstairs at 2 a.m. and grab the boys and take them down — we have a little safe room in our house. … I bet everybody was crying,” Underwood said during an interview with The Today Show.

Country singer Kelsea Ballerini asked for ways she and her fans can help the recovery effort. She spent a good portion of the morning sharing information about relief efforts.

Hands On Nashville is helping with getting volunteers and promoting t-shirt sales to help with relief efforts as the tweet below details.

Dolly Parton posted a video saying that she’s okay and that she’s pulling for the people of Nashville.

Dierks Bentley showed a daunting video of the storm cell entering the city.

Charlie Daniels sent prayers as well.

These big name stars are doing their best to help out the Nashville community through prayers and disseminating details on where to get help. Prayers go out to the people of Nashville as they begin to recover and rebuild after the tornado.
