Kenny Omega suffers injury

Kenny Omega Suffers Injury

Kenny Omega suffers injury

This weekend may have been an eventful one for Kenny Omega. He and partner Adam “Hangman” Page defeated The Young Bucks at Revolution. Through their victory, they retained their AEW Tag Team Championships. However, Omega may have left the Windy City with more than just a shiny championship belt.

It is being reported that Omega’s hand was pretty banged up after the classic tag team battle. Initial concerns are that the hand injury could be of a broken variety. As of Monday morning, nothing has been confirmed or denied.

Considering how talented Omega is, one hopes if he is injured, it’s not severe. If it is a broken hand, it would remain to be seen if AEW would allow him to work through the injury, or if it would necessitate a title change or something.

It is possible that it’s not broken, or is not a severe break. Depending on the diagnosis, Omega might be able to continue to work while he heals. However, if the injury is severe and requires time off, the timing is unfortunate. Omega is already one of the top guys in the world, and he’s been on a tear of late.

Possible Reason Jericho Lost World Title

Chris Jericho's Tag Partners Revealed + Jack Swagger To AEW?

By now, you ought to know that Chris Jericho lost the AEW Heavyweight Championship to Jon Moxley on Saturday night. If you didn’t, well, it’s too late for spoiler alerting now.

There was a good reason…

While some might be surprised at the timing of such a big change, it seems AEW made the move for a good reason. According to Wrestling Observer, Jericho and his band Fozzy have a tour taking place this summer.  Fans ought to recall that Chris Jericho frequently arranged his WWE schedule around his Fozzy tour dates too. With Y2J already planning to be away, it made sense to ensure the championship would be around the waist of someone who would be around regularly and able to defend it (you paying attention, WWE?).

It is possible that AEW could have delayed the change by a matter of a few weeks. AEW creatively thought that the time for a new champion was this past weekend, and the location was Chicago. There’s no exact date for when Jericho will begin his AEW time off, so we may still get a rematch before Jericho heads out on tour.

With the Fozzy tour looming, however, this does likely mean we will get to see an exciting new program as AEW heads into the spring and summer. Who might Jon Moxley be defending his newly-won championship against? With some big names expected to join AEW soon, there are new possibilities inbound. Also, AEW has several acceptable internal options.
