James Krause Using Lockdown To Improve Himself, Brand

James Krause doesn’t understand why anyone would not take advantage of the unique opportunity presented to them.

While much of the world waits for things to get back to normal, Krause is bettering himself and his brand that he represents.

“The lockdown kind of sucks, but I’m using the time to get situated and all that stuff, get some things done,” Krause told Caged Chaos. “Updating the gym, doing stuff for our online school. The minimal interaction is not fun, but I am firm believer in finding positive in anything.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime. The whole glove is shutdown. Whatever your craft is, you should be looking to improve that. It doesn’t make sense (not to).”

Krause teaches out of his own Glory MMA and Fitness in Missouri. He has spent the better part of his career in the UFC, winning eight times including over Warlley Alves, Alex White and Daron Cruickshank during a recent six-bout win streak.

In February, on 24 hours notice, Krause stepped in at UFC 247 and faced Trevin Giles. He lost a controversial split decision, but that hasn’t stopped him from pushing forward.

“You have to make the best out of it,” he said. “While this is happening, for anybody in any realm, not taking advantage of the down time, you are missing the opportunity of an absolute lifetime.

“I am a firm believer in that successful people will get more successful out of this situation.”

Now 33 years old, Krause is also looking at his post-fighting career. That will involve something he has taken on more of in the past few years: coaching.

“It means everything to me,” he said. “I am really passionate about coaching, helping others reach their goals. One of my favorite things in the world – and I love fighting too – is the coaching aspect of the sport.

“I enjoy both a lot, training helping others. At some point, there has to be a transition over to the next thing.”

The world of MMA is one of the few sports that brings together people from all walks of life. I try my best to tell those stories and also present breaking news to the masses.
