Commission Overturns Tito Ortiz Vs. Alberto El Patron Result

The win by Tito Ortiz late in 2019 over a former WWE champion has been altered.

The Texas Department of Licencing and Regulation changed the submission victory for Ortiz over Alberto El Patron to a no-contest. No official reason was given for the decision.

Ortiz, a UFC Hall of Famer and former champion, finished El Patron in the first round via submission. The two were the feature bout for the first-ever Combate Americas pay-per-view event in December from Hidalgo, Texas.

In a message sent to MMA Fighting, Tela Mange, a spokesperson for the TDLR, said “The results of the fight were changed pending further investigation.” They would not give any further information.

As you might have expected, Ortiz himself had plenty to say regarding the decision.

“This is a BS claim and will get overturned,” he posted on Instagram. “I promise you all. Sad way to get attention at my expense.”

For Ortiz, though, it was not a total loss. The UFC sent him his hall of fame jacket.

“So today was a really disparaging day due to trumped up BS by the Texas Athletic Commission and my last fight,” Ortiz said. “However I came home to an unexpected surprise from Dana White and UFC that made my day!

“My official Hall of Fame Jacket along with a letter from Dana. I am very thankful for this and for the many amazing memories I made with UFC! Thank you!”
