Ronda Rousey Has A Future Opponent In Mind For Return

If – but more likely when – Ronda Rousey decides to make her return to the WWE, there is one superstar she would like to face.

Rousey, who remains the only female to hold both the WWE and UFC titles, believes a match with Rhea Ripley would be at the top of her list.

“My god, she is doing amazing things,” Rousey said while appearing on WWE’s After The Bell. “I would love to have a match with her some day. She matches up with everyone so differently and there are so many things she could really pull out. (Things) that you can’d do with anybody else.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing if we ever get that opportunity. I’d love to get in the ring with her. She’s fantastic.”

Rousey is under contract with the WWE through 2021. She has not wrestled, though, since WrestleMania 35.

That night, Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair made history by becoming the first female wrestlers to headline WrestleMania. Lynch walked out the big winner, earning the victory.

Ripley claimed the NXT women’s title by besting Shayna Baszler in December. Baszler is a close friend of Rousey’s and part of her “Four Horsewomen” stable.

Ripley appears on board with the idea of facing Rousey. On social media, she said “I’d be down” for a future match.

WWE Planning Reduced Schedules For Superstars

It appears the WWE is listening to the superstars and fans. According to Wrestling News, the promotion plans to lighten work loads by cutting down on the number of live events.

The report states that in February, athletes on the main roster will only be required to work a maximum of 10 dates. The promotion is planning a trip to Saudi Arabia for a show at the end of that month.

It is believed that by reducing the number of events and travel, superstars will be healthier throughout the year. That will keep officials from having to scrap plans due to injuries and wear-and-tear.

Several are already battling injuries including Sasha Banks, AJ Styles, Jinder Mahal, Jeff Hardy and Nia Jax.
