Jeff Hardy's WWE Return

WWE Superstars Working Hurt To Avoid Getting Their Contracts Frozen

Superstars Working Hurt

With wrestling, comes injuries and WWE superstars are not immune. Lately, WWE has been freezing contracts if a wrestler is going to be out for an extended period of time.

This rule has allowed WWE to keep talent away from All Elite Wrestling (AEW). During Fightful Select’s Q&A, they mentioned how superstars have been keeping injuries a secret.

“If they want out of their deal, it does encourage wrestlers to [not report an injury]. Or, it encourages superstars to ask for their release, but be willing to work. That’s why a lot of people haven’t had time frozen on their deals. They’ve been requesting their releases, but saying that they’d work through it as well.”

“So, [WWE] can freeze [their contracts] if they miss a show briefly for a week or they can’t show up or something like that, but if they’re ready, willing, and able to show up and do the job then they can’t freeze them.”

This practice is dangerous as WWE talent are willing to compete injured in hopes of getting out of their contract on time. Of course, some injuries are severe and there is no hiding it from management.

“I think it does encourage wrestlers to not report injuries. Unfortunately, there are some that you have to because you can’t physically perform.”

Recently, Jeff Hardy had his contract frozen due to several injuries and personal issues that have caused him to miss significant time. Then there is someone like Kairi Sane, who was clearly hurt at TLC. Plus, Xavier Woods is out with an achilles injury for at least six months.

AEW has really changed how WWE handles names under contact.

Big Royal Rumble Surprise Could Involve Edge

Edge

Ever since Edge hit Elias with a spear at SummerSlam, people have been wondering about a possible return. Over the past week, there have been reports that Edge will return to WWE for at least more match.

Now, Wrestling News reports that Edge is in great shape and he could be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble Match.

“I was told that Edge has been training hard and he’s in great shape. The feeling in WWE is that he will be back relatively soon and the prevailing rumor is that he will wrestle at WrestleMania. [And] possibly sooner as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble.”

Edge has denied on social media several times that he will be returning to action. Right after WrestleMania XXVII in 2011, Edge announced his retirement. That meant his final match was retaining the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. That is a pretty cool way of going out.

The WWE Hall of Famer was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis and doctors would not clear him to compete. Since he got physical for the first time over this past summer, the feeling is doctors will clear him.
