Cody Rhodes On Luke Harper And Marty Scurll Joining AEW

Cody Rhodes On Signing Luke Harper

Luke Harper is no longer tied to a contract with the WWE, making him a possible target for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Cody Rhodes.

Harper, who is one of the bigger free agents on the pro wrestling market right now, is completely free to sign with whoever he wants after 90 days.

“He would be great as part of AEW,” said Rhodes, during a recent interview with Alex McCarthy. “He’s a name that when you hear they’ve asked for their release, you definitely think about that and the next steps, for sure. I think he’s going to flourish with what he does next, he’s very special.”

The 40-year-old has also competed under the name Brodie Lee, finding success for almost a decade on the independent scene and with Chikara. He signed with the WWE in 2012 and was put with The Wyatt Family.

During his time in the WWE, Harper won the NXT tag team titles with Erick Rowan, the WWE Intercontinental championship, the SmackDown tag team titles with Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Rowan and was involved in a classic at Survivor Series match.

Cody Rhodes Also Addresses Marty Scrull’s Future

Cody Rhodes also confirmed in the same interview that Marty Scrull’s Ring of Honor contract expired in November, but he is “doing what Marty is going to do.” That happened at recent NWA show, where Scrull made an unannounced appearance. He has a stare down with NWA World Champion Nick Aldis. As of now, there is no word if Scrull signed with NWA or the length of a possible deal. Although, it does appear a program with Aldis is on the horizon.

“Marty is going to do what Marty is going to do,” Rhodes said. “We all love Marty. Anything he does in the next few weeks or months, I wouldn’t look at as permanent for him. He’s very much testing the waters here and there, and that’s pretty much all I can say on Marty.”

Scrull has plenty of friends in AEW, including some of the higher ups that were his former stablemates in the Bullet Club. That includes Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and The Young Buck (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson).
