Baron Corbin Getting A Manager?

Baron Corbin Could Be Getting A Manager

Baron Corbin Getting A Manager?

There has been talk of Baron Corbin getting a manager and that might happen as soon as tonight’s TLC. The top name being discussed is Drake Maverick.

On the Wrestling Observe Radio, Dave Meltzer also mentioned how Maverick could end being Corbin’s manager. Corbin having a manager would help elevate his current angle of being “King” with Maverick as a loyal subject.

At Thursday’s live event from Greenbay, Maverick worked alongside Corbin. Up until this point, neither have been spotted together on WWE TV.

Meltzer did mention an angle two weeks on SmackDown, where Roman Reigns was handcuffed to the ring post and covered in dog food.

“Last Friday’s show when the Roman Reigns beat-down, there was a guy from under the ring that grabbed his leg and that kinda helped tie him up in the corner when they tied dog food on him,” said Meltzer. “I presume that was Drake Maverick.

“I don’t know, but I do know that they were already advertising Drake Maverick in January shows. You know, it’s Baron Corbin and Drake Maverick.”

With Reigns battling King Corbin tonight in a TLC Match, it would be an easy opportunity to bring Maverick into the fold. There are disqualifications, so Maverick could cost Reigns the match with the referee not being able to ring the bell.

Maverick joined WWE and became the 205 Live General Manager. To this day, Maverick still holds that position. He would also mange the AOP, but left the group after they suffered an injury. The AOP have since been repackaged and are aligned with Seth Rollins.

Marty Scurll Appears At NWA PPV

Marty Scurll’s Ring of Honor contract ended on November 30, but he stuck around until Final Battle. There was interest from WWE and All Elite Wrestling (AEW), but it appears Scurll is going in a different direction.

During NWA Into The Fire pay per view, Scurll appeared and had his eyes on Nick Aldis’ NWA World Heavyweight Championship. After Aldis retrained the title against James Storm, Scurll made an appearance. The show concluded with Scurll and Aldis having a stare-down.

As of now, NWA has not confirmed that Scurll signed with the promotion. WWE knew Scurll would be a big name in NXT because of his past on the Indy scene. As of AEW, Scurll has plenty of friends in high positions and that felt like the obvious choice.

If Scurll did sign with NWA, there is no word on what type of deal. Stay tuned as this story develops.
