Joshua Pacio Motivated, Excited For Future Of ONE Championship

ONE Championship is a couple of weeks removed from their record breaking event, ONE Century, in Tokyo, Japan. Naturally, everyone is on a high, including ONE Championship athletes who have nothing but great things to say about the promotion.

One such athlete is reigning ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio, who is brimming with excitement ahead of his main event clash with Rene Catalan on November 8 at ONE: Masters of Fate.

“As a ONE athlete, I am very motivated and excited for what ONE is doing,” Pacio said.

“ONE is big and it is only getting bigger and bigger. Next year, we will be entering the U.S. and that excites me very much.”

Pacio has been hard at work, preparing for the first defense of his second reign as strawweight king. The 23-year-old wants to make sure that victory is on his side this time. As such, the man they call “The Passion” is fully committed to doing what is necessary to defeat Catalan in front of the Filipino fans.

“Training has been awesome. I am feeling good and very excited for November 8. To get the win in this title defense means a lot to me and my team,” Pacio said.

“The last time that I defended it did not go as what we expected, so this time, I am going to make sure that I am 100 percent focused and confident to get the big ‘W.’”

It’s certainly an interesting main event, as both Pacio and Catalan are full-blooded Filipino athletes. It’s a treat for the fans in Manila, who will no doubt line the rafters to witness this rare matchup.

“I think half of the people will be cheering for him and half will be cheering for me,” Pacio concluded.

“It is hard for the fans because we are both Filipinos, but this is sports and at the end of the night, sportsmanship will prevail.”
