Some of Dolly Parton’s most popular songs are coming to life in a new Netflix series. “Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” debuts on the popular streaming service Friday, November 22nd. Each episode will give the backstory behind eight of the legendary singer’s songs, including “Jolene.” Parton, who is the executive producer of the series, will also appear in “Heartstrings.”
Dolly fans are in for a real treat as each of these songs is brought to life by a star studded cast. Each episode is much more than a music video. The country music icon is excited to bring these stories to her fans.
“Songs — they’re just stories put to music,” Parton says in the trailer below. “Songs that I’ve written, they’re stories of my life — every triumph, every struggle, every smile, every sorrow. It’s the melody of my memories. It’s the sound of my heartstrings.”

“Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” Netflix series consists of eight episodes. Summaries of each the eight episodes are listed below.
“In the 1940s, a determined young lawyer returns to her Smoky Mountain hometown to prove herself professionally when a mysterious mountain woman (Kathleen Turner), believed by some locals to be a fortune teller, threatens a lumber company’s business.”
“After receiving invitations to their long-estranged father’s 70th birthday, three siblings converge on a Mississippi farm, where they test the bonds of blood and issues of faith, all to confront the sins of their father.”
“In the 1880s, a feisty young woman trapped in a mundane existence dream of more, until a seductive outlaw pulls her into the adventure of a lifetime.”
“The title character (Julianne Hough), a flirtatious free spirit, wants to escape her hometown of Coventry, Georgia, and become a singer-songwriter.” Dolly appears in this episode as Babe, Jolene’s mentor and owner of the honky tonk bar.
“Two stories — one past, one present — about the power of unconditional love between a girl and her dog. That same girl, now grown, questions what her life means and who she can truly count on when faced with her greatest fear.”
