Dolly Parton

Country music legend Dolly Parton has always loved children. In fact, she is so fond of children that she launched the organization Imagination Library, which aims to promote children’s literacy by donating books all over the world.

Despite the fact that she adores kids, Parton has never had any children of her own. Now, she’s speaking out to let her fans know the real reason behind this. Country Rebel reported that Parton recently said that she and Carl Dean, her husband of 53 years, are now “glad” that they never had children.

“God has a plan for everything,” Parton said. “I think it probably was his plan for me not to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine. And they are now.”

She went on to say that she has always had a connection with children, which she believes is because she has a voice that sounds like something out of a nursery rhyme.

“I have that high-pitched voice…I look like Mother Goose or one of those over-exaggerated characters, and kids just relate to that,” Parton explained.

Despite how she feels now, there was a time when Parton did want children with her husband.

“If we’d had a girl, she was gonna be called Carla,” the country singer said. “Anyway, we talked about it, and we dreamed it, but it wasn’t meant to be.”

These days, Parton is staying connected to kids with her new children’s album “I Believe in You.” The song includes many songs for children, including “Brave Little Soldier,” “Makin’ Fun Ain’t Funny,” and a new recording of Parton’s classic song, “Coat of Many Colors.” In addition, Parton is a devoted aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews.

While it’s sad that Parton never had children of her own, it’s nice to see how much she’s done for children all over the world. God bless you, Dolly Parton!
