Judge Judy stunned fans with the first political endorsement of her career. America's favorite TV judge acknowledged that her 2020 endorsement is a risk.

Judy Judith Sheindlin has America’s attention today – and it’s not for her courtroom antics. America’s favorite TV judge stunned fans today by not only issuing the first public political endorsement of her long career, but by the candidate that she chose to back. Judge Judy wants Michael Bloomberg for President in 2020.

Judge Judy Issues 2020 Election Endorsement

In an OpEd written for USA Today, Judge Judy shockingly endorsed Michael Bloomberg in the 2020 presidential race. The unexpected endorsement seems to reveal that Sheindlin is in fact a Democrat.

In her OpEd, Judge Judy acknowledged her longstanding choice to stay silent and out of politics for decades. Well, she is silent no more.

“I realize I am taking a personal and a career risk,” wrote Sheindlin, 77. “I have carefully stayed away from politics for 50 years, except to vote. But times have changed in our country, and I believe the moment has come for me to step out from behind the curtain. I want to speak honestly and from the heart — regardless of the consequences.”

Though Bloomberg is not officially in the 2020 race at this time, a New York Times article published on Tuesday listed him as one person that top Democratic donors are calling on to enter the race at the last minute. Furthermore, The Times stated that both Bloomberg and Hillary Clinton have told those close to them that they would consider entering the race if they were absolutely sure that they would win.

Judge Judy Wants A “No-Nonsense President”

Sheindlin wrote in her OpEd that Bloomberg, who previously served as the mayor of New York City, would be the “no-nonsense president” that our country needs right now.

Those who have watched Sheindlin’s show “Judge Judy” should not be surprised that she would want a president with this personality, as she is famous for not tolerating any nonsense in her courtroom. RELATED: Judge Judy’s Best One-Liners

“Our American family has been fractured in recent years. We’re hopelessly divided, and a bitterly divided family cannot thrive,” she said. “The only way we can begin to come together again, I said, is if Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York City, becomes our next president.”

Conservative fans of Sheindlin will be happy to learn that she does not seem to be a radically left liberal, since she said that one of the things that draws her to Bloomberg is that he is “a man of the center.”

“An independent, tough-minded businessman, he represents our best chance to bring America together again and begin the long national process of healing,” Sheindlin explained.

“Unlike those on the far the right and the far left who use their bully pulpit to divide us, he’s a pragmatist, a man who has shown time and again that he knows how to get things done and cares more about results than ideology. That’s a skill in short supply these days, on both sides.”

Judge Judy Does Not Support The Radical Left

Sheindlin also is not a fan of how radically far left the current crop of 2020 Democrats have been.

Showing her characteristic calls for personal responsibility, Sheindlin blasted the Democratic socialist preponderance for giving people “free stuff.”

“There used to be a preponderance of folks on the Democratic side who understood the need to elect a centrist candidate, someone who could build coalitions and reach across the aisle,” she wrote.

“But in this campaign, candidates are fighting to out-left each other with pie-in-the-sky proposals for free money and free education. Everybody gets a thousand dollars, everybody gets free college tuition. Everybody gets, everybody gets, but where does all this getting come from?”

Some are undoubtedly disappointed that Sheindlin supports a Democrat for president. Though she seems to be doing so with her characteristic level head. Trying her best to come across as an open-minded centrist despite endorsing Michael Bloomberg.

Towards the end of her OpEd, Sheindlin issues a call for open-minded discourse that both sides could learn a lot from:

I realize you may vehemently disagree with me, and that’s OK. We all know that spirited debate is part of what makes this country great, and so different from other nations. But let’s keep it civil. As fellow Americans, we should respect each other’s voices. If someone expresses an opinion in a thoughtful, well-behaved manner, those who disagree should do so in the same manner. Sadly, that lesson has been utterly forgotten since the last presidential election, and we’re paying the price for it every day.

Americans React

Judy Judy collectively blindsided everyone with her endorsement of Michael Bloomberg. That being said, initial reactions to her endorsement bomb on Twitter are split.
