Injury Updates On NXT's Velveteen Dream And KUSHIDA

Velveteen Dream Out Indefinitely With Back Injury

Injury Updates On NXT's Velveteen Dream And KUSHIDA

When NXT officially moved to the USA Network, the premiere episode featured a title change as North American Champion Velveteen Dream lost to Roderick Strong. Since then, Dream has not appeared much on TV as he is injured.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentioned that Dream is currently out with a back injury. They also explained that Dream had been working hurt for some time, but the pain finally became too much.

NXT General Manager William Regal stated that Dream’s rematch against Strong for October 23 is off. There is no word if Dream will get a rematch once he is given the okay to compete again. As for the length of Dream’s absence, Regal noted that he will not be around for a long time.

There is always the chance that Dream doses not return to NXT, instead joining either RAW or SmackDown. The gimmick has been a hit from the start and there were rumors floating around for the past year that he was main roster bound. With NXT now on TV, many WWE plans have likely changed.

KUSHIDA Expected Back Shortly After Hairline Wrist Fracture

Dream is not the only person injured as we noted that KUSHIDA is also hurt after sporing a cast on Twitter. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted the former New Japan Pro Wrestling star has a hairline wrist fracture, which happened on September 18.

WWE is currently running an angle where KUSHIDA was injured in his October 11 match with WALTER. In actuality, KUSHIDA already had the injury when he took on the NXT UK Champion.

KUSHIDA should be back inside a wrestling ring within a month. While an injury is never great, at least the timetable for a return is short.

Days before WrestleMania 35, WWE held a press conference to announce the signing of the 36 year old. He debuted on NXT TV in April and also worked shortly on the 205 Live brand.
