Andrea Lee

Do you know the name Andrea Lee?

If you do not, prepare to get to know the rising prospect ahead of her UFC 242 prelim main event bout vs. Joanne Calderwood Saturday from Abu Dhabi.

Lee is 11-2 overall and riding a seven-fight win streak dating back to 2016. Of those seven wins, the last three have come inside the Octagon.

Overall, six of Lee’s 11 victories are finishes, including four submission wins vs. Jamie Thorton, Heather Bassett, Ariel Beck and Rachael Ostovich. She fought former title contender Roxanne Modafferi to a split decision in 2014 in just her third pro fight while competing under the Invicta FC banner, where she went 5-2.

A Champion Outside The Octagon

Prior to landing within the UFC ranks, Lee competed for Legacy Fighting Alliance (and Legacy Fighting Championship as it was previously known), claiming the flyweight title. She was the inaugural Legacy FC flyweight champion and LFA flyweight champion, earning a title defense in LFA.

Lee is a former champion on the international scene in kickboxing, including the title of International Kickboxing Federation World Classic Amateur Featherweight Muay Thai champion. She also was an amateur national Golden Gloves winner in 2013 after claiming titles in Louisiana.

Nicknamed “KGB,” Lee has battled through her own share of problems outside the cage. In 2019, her husband was arrested and jailed for domestic violence and false imprisonment after burning Lee with a cigarette and choking her.

But the fighter has done what she always does – fight through it.

Lee returned to the cage in June and earned a decision over Montana De La Rosa, adding to wins over Ashlee Evans-Smith and Veronica Macedo since signing with the UFC. Her debut earned her “Fight of the Night” status.
