NXT Talent Raises, UFC’s Cain Velasquez Fielding Wrestling Offers

WWE, AEW And Several Other Pro Wrestling Promotions Making Offers To Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez

Cain Velasquez is considered by some to be the greatest UFC Heavyweight Champion. Lately, he has been inching closer to a pro wrestling career and several promotions want to sign him.

During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated Velasquez is speaking with a number of companies. But, there could be an issue working inside the United States while still under contract to the UFC.

Velasquez has spoken to WWE, All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, AAA and other well known companies. Meltzer also noted how Velasquez is allowed to compete in Mexico, but he has run into trouble working inside the United States.

In 2008, Velasquez joined the UFC where he would become a two time Heavyweight Champion with a pair of title defenses. He holds a 14-3 record, but has been dealing with several back injuries the past few years. He has only fought three times since 2015, losing two fights. His last fight in February of this year saw him lose in just 26 seconds.

Unless something has changed, Velasquez’s next wrestling appearance is set for October 13 for AAA. In the meantime, be sure to watch Velasquez’s recent pro wrestling matches as he impressed everybody with his highflying ability for a 250 pound man.

NXT Superstars Expected To Get A Pay Increase

NXT is now on the USA Network with a deal rumored to be $30 million per year according to Dave Meltzer. While WWE is getting a nice influx of cash, NXT superstars are yet to see a pay increase.

With the deal in place, the superstars should be making more money in the future. As of now, most of the NXT wrestlers make less than $100,000 a year; while, only a few of the top drawing names make more.

With TV comes more responsibilities from the wrestlers such as attending rehearsals on Tuesday nights and making more public appearance. Internally, NXT talent are under the impression they will see an increase in their pay in six months from now.
