Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine cornrow mohawk cultural appropriation.

Adam Levine, the frontman for the band Maroon 5, has found himself in hot water this week after he posted photos of himself with a new “cornrow mohawk” that has offended internet users accusing him of cultural appropriation.

Adam Levine Debuts New Haircut

Fox News reported that Levine, who formerly was a judge on “The Voice,” is now sporting three bleach-blond cornrows down the center of his head with shaved sides along with a rattail.

Levine’s Cornrows Are Panned

Many have spoken out to slam Levine for his new look, including celebrity stylist Bradley Irion, who has styled famous stars like “Orange Is the New Black” actress Laverne Cox and former “Buffy The Vampire” star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

“It’s not necessarily his best look, to say the least,“ Irion said. “It looks like he’s trying hard to be something he’s not. Personally, I’m not looking for this look to trend.”

Tons of internet users have not had kind things to say about the 40-year-old singer’s look.

“Adam Levine putting cornrows in his hair screams of desperation. Dying career, figured he can stir the pot…” one user commented, with another adding, “I think Adam Levine is going through a Mid Life crisis. It’s okay Adam, I keep trying to make bangs work.”

Levine Accused of Cultural Appropriation.

Others have gone so far as to accuse Levine of cultural appropriation.

“Listen, I’m all about rockin’ your own style and ‘you doing you.’ But, Someone please tell Adam Levine that dreadlocks for white dudes is NEVER OK,” one outraged social media user commented. Another wrote, “Will he be charged with cultural appropriation? Just checking to see which direction the offended winds are blowing today.”

Putting aside the allegations of cultural appropriation and the mass outrage over Levine’s new look, we just have to say that his new hairdo is not visually flattering at all. Even if he doesn’t care about offending politically correct believers in cultural appropriation, he might want to ditch this hairstyle anyway and go back to more of a standard haircut.

In today’s world of hyper-sensitivity, nearly anything can cause mass outrage, so Levine should have seen this coming when he adopted this look. While it’s a little ridiculous to see people get so worked up over someone’s haircut, we all know that this is the world we live in now, so Levine should have known he was in for some serious backlash. After all, PC snowflakes will let virtually anything trigger them these days, even some cornrows.
