Trish Status On Retiring At SummerSlam, Sasha Banks Goes Blonde

– Trish Stratus ended her full-time in-ring career at Unforgiven 2006 by defeating Lita to become a seven time champion. Now, Status returns to Toronto for what she has quietly been billing as a retirement match opposite “The Queen” Charlotte Flair. During Busted Open Radio, Stratus was asked if she will return yet again.

“No, oh my God,” said Status. “100 percent, like, how much more closure could you get being away for this long already. Charlotte and I in the ring, it was just like you couldn’t put together a better…I feel like this is sort of a good final match for me. I don’t think you could really do anything more than this. It feels like a good ending for me. A real ending.”

There is a strong case that Stratus was the biggest star of her generation and the same could be said for Charlotte, who still has a lengthy career ahead of her. SummerSlam is seeing generation vs. generation as two of the biggest stars in women’s wrestling battle for the first and final time. 

If Status does retire tomorrow at SummerSlam, it is the perfect place as it comes from Toronto. She will likely make random appearance on TV, but she has done plenty for the women’s division and it is time to move towards the next chapter of life.

– Sasha Banks has not appeared on TV since WrestleMania 35 as he reportedly requested her release due to problems with how WWE was treating her and the newly introduced Women’s Tag Team Championships. She has been rumored for a summer return, but nothing has materialized as of this point. While away, Banks recently changed her long purple hair for blonde.

With Bayley holding the SmackDown Women’s Championship and WWE making sporadic name drops for Banks, she could show up at SummerSlam or the days following. It would be a treat for fans to finally see Bayley and Banks bring their famous NXT feud to the main roster.
