school bans teen

It’s hard to parent while living in the nanny state. Justine Myers of northern Colorado found this out the hard way when she took her 16-year-old son Nate shooting. They never realized exercising their Second Amendment rights would get Nate kicked out of school and a visit from police. This story is so ridiculous, it may have many parents considering homeschooling their children.

Mother Son Bonding Time Turns Into Nightmare Because Of Gun Videos

Justine picked Nate up from school a little early to shoot, according to Rally For Our Rights. This is her right as a parent. As they were gathering their things together to head to the range, Nate shared a video of his gun on social media. He wrote, “Finna be lit,” which translates to adults as “Going to have fun.” That video is below.

The teen also shared a short video (below) showing his mom instructing him as he shot a Glock. This really is not a big deal. This is all legal and protected by the Second Amendment. But, the nightmare would soon begin.

The School Didn’t Care That He Was Cleared By Police

Soon after they returned home, the police showed up. They received reports that Nate was a potential threat because he posted these videos on social media.

Police quickly cleared Nate. The guns were legally owned and Nate was dismissed as a threat. Nothing illegal had happened during this mother-son outing and police realized this.

Even though law enforcement cleared everything, the trouble was only beginning. The next morning, Justine was greeted with a voicemail from Nate’s school claiming he is a threat and could not return to school.

From Rally For Our Rights:

The voicemail informed Justine that a report had come in claiming Nate was a threat to the school and he was not allowed to return until further notice. The report presumably came through Safe 2 Tell.  There are reports that a school wide email was also sent to parents about the “threat”.   Justine immediately contacted the school assuming she could easily clear things up, especially since the police had already assessed the situation and realized no one had done anything wrong or made any threats.  She was wrong.  The school not only refused to provide her with more information about the “threat”, but they refused to provide Nate with schoolwork so he doesn’t get behind.

Justine was invited the following day to a threat assessment hearing with seven school officials so she could prove his innocence. Loveland High School did not care that police said there were no red flags after checking everything out. In this day and age caution is imperative, but this is a serious infraction on this family’s rights. This should concern us all.

The left is trying to use a broad brush to paint all gun owners are lunatics. Nate was pushed out of school and a voicemail was sent to all families at the school informing them of this potential threat. It seems they are trying to shame and bully us all into giving up our guns. But, that’s not going to happen.
