Colin Kaepernick Celebrates 3 Year Anniversary of Anthem Kneeling Protests

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick just celebrated the three year anniversary of his infamous national anthem protests by sharing a video to social media.

Fox News reported that Kaepernick first took a knee during the national anthem to protest against racial inequality in the U.S. during a preseason game back in 2016, sparking serious backlash from many Americans who felt he was disrespecting the American flag. Judging from his Twitter post for the anniversary, however, Kaepernick has no regrets about what he did.

Kaepernick Celebrates Anniversary

“Today marks the three year anniversary of the first time I protested systemic oppression,” Kaepernick wrote in the post. “I continue to work and stand with the people in our fight for liberation, despite those who are trying to erase the movement! The movement has always lived with the people!”

The video shows graphic footage of various police shootings, including Walter Scott’s in South Carolina and Alton Sterling’s in Louisiana. Throughout the clip, Kaepernick can be heard saying, “How can you stand for the national anthem of a nation that preaches and propagates freedom and justice for all that is so unjust to many of the people living in it?”

Kaepernick Explains Reasons For Kneeling

Later in the video, Kaepernick can be seen explaining why he launched his anthem kneeling protests, saying he wanted to bring attention to racial and social injustices in the U.S. He added that he was doing it for those who did not have a voice to do it themselves.

Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since leaving the San Francisco 49ers after the 2016 season, and liberals have tried to turn him into a martyr of sorts by claiming he has not been signed by any other team due to racism. Others, however, have pointed out that Kaepernick led the 49ers to a losing record during his final year as their quarterback, and that he simply does not have the talent to be signed by another team.

Shame On Colin Kaepernick

Three years later, Kaepernick’s anthem kneeling protests continue to sicken anyone who loves and respect our nation and our flag. Kneeling during the anthem is effectively telling anyone who put their lives on the line for our flag made that sacrifice for nothing, and that’s something we just cannot support. Shame on Kaepernick for continuing to have no regrets about these despicable protests all these years later.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
