Dolly Parton’s Husband Isn’t a Fan of Her Music – ‘It’s a Touchy Subject’

Dolly Parton is one of the most legendary country music stars alive today, and she has been married to her husband Carl Dean for over 52 years. That’s why it came as a massive surprise to her fans when she recently revealed that he isn’t a fan of her music!

Classic Country Music reported that Parton immediately defended Dean after revealing this, saying that while he is proud of her, he just doesn’t share her taste in music.

“He’s proud of me. And he loves that I love what I do. I think it’s just … it’s a touchy subject. I’m like his little girl I think. He just worries about that,” she said. “He likes hard rock. He likes Led Zeppelin and bluegrass music, and my music is somewhere in between. He doesn’t dislike it, he doesn’t go out of his way to play my records, let’s put it that way.”

The interviewer agreed with Parton, saying that this might be the secret to why they have been married so long.

“I think that’s true. And the fact that we like each other, we respect each other,” Parton said. “We’ve always had a good time. He’s crazy. I’m crazy. We laugh a lot and I think that’s been one of the healthiest, the most precious parts of our relationship.”

Dean met Parton at a laundromat where she was washing her clothes. At the time, he was 21 and she was 18, but it was love at first sight.

“My first thought was I’m gonna marry that girl,” Dean said on their 50th wedding anniversary. “My second thought was, ‘Lord she’s good lookin.’ And that was the day my life began. I wouldn’t trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth.”
