CM Punk On Working Starrcast III

– The Starrcast III convention in Chicago during Labor Day weekend just got a lot more interesting as CM Punk will appear. He is scheduled for meet-and-greets and will reportedly participate in a one-on-one interview. Below is the official announcement and Punk’s response.

Since leaving WWE in 2014, Punk has mostly isolated himself from the wrestling world. He ripped into a few names during Colt Cabana’s podcast, which later resulted in several lawsuits. Apparently, Punk has done a few run-ons during Indy shows, but he has not confirmed those reports. He also fought twice in UFC, losing both times in one-sided fashion. While Punk continues to train in MMA, he is no longer with the UFC and lately has been doing commentary for some minor promotions.

Punk participating in Starrcast III will undoubtedly gets fans talking about All Elite Wrestling (AEW). There have been rumors that Punk could appear at All Out, which takes place near Chicago. If AEW can get Punk to work for the promotion, it would be another massive score against WWE.

– WWE had some big some changes in mind when they named Paul Heyman Executive Director of RAW and Eric Bischoff  given the same title for SmackDown. Unlike Heyman, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how Bischoff will likely not have a role in the creative process.

Instead, the former WCW President will interface with various departments in WWE. The report continued how SmackDown currently has no leader. Ryan Ward pitches some of the main ideas, with other writers passing along their work to him.

Bischoff officially started yesterday with WWE and had no influence on this week’s SmackDown script. He was busy the past few weeks on moving his entire family as he will be working out of WWE Headquarters in Stamford, CT. He has also been advertised for Monday’s RAW Reunion special.
