Beloved chef Anthony Bourdain would have turned 63 on Tuesday, and to mark the occasion, his wife Ottavia Busia posted a video of him that has touched the hearts of his fans everywhere.

Yahoo News reported that Busia celebrated Bourdain’s birthday by posting a throwback video showing him playing with their now 12-year-old daughter Ariane. The video shows the little girl sitting on Bourdain’s shoulders as he playfully dunks her in the water, causing her to giggle with joy. Busia captioned the video with three laughing crying emojis along with the hashtag “#BourdainDay,” which was created by Bourdain’s friends Eric Ripert and José Andrés.

Bourdain tragically committed suicide in June of last year, and he is still missed very much to this day. After his death, a source close to him said that Busia was one of the brightest parts of his life.

“It was quite evident that Tony was a ‘lighter’ human being around his daughter,” the source said. “When he spoke about her, his eyes danced. He talked about her constantly.”

Ariane was also an incredibly important part of his life. He said before his death that he made sure never to shoot in two cities back to back for his CNN show “Parts Unknown” so that he could always spend at least five days a month with her.

Friends Celebrate Bourdain Day

Ripert and Andrés announced that they would be commemorating Bourdain Day last month, and when it finally arrived, they posted a video of themselves in Singapore giving a toast in the chef’s honor.

“A true Legend… Anthony, my Dear Friend… Happy Birthday! The world wishes you Peace & Love on your journey,” Ripert wrote alongside the video.

Bourdain will never be forgotten, as there will never be another personality quite like him. His tragic death serves as a reminder that we never really know what someone is going through, so it’s important to treat everyone around us with respect and love.
