Hey, remember that former UFC champ Tito Ortiz? Remember how he retired, but kept coming back again and again – to fight in Bellator, to fight Chuck Liddell in some fly-by-night promotion? Remember him? Well, Mr. Retired just signed with Combate Americas, the Latin-centric MMA organization.
For some, retirement means ditching work and doing other things, like traveling around the country in an RV or something. For Ortiz, though, it apparently means more cagefighting.
Here’s ESPN:
Tito Ortiz is back.
The UFC Hall of Famer has signed a multi-fight deal with Combate Americas, a promotion official told ESPN.
Ortiz is expected to debut in the fall, though his opponent isn’t finalized at this time. It is also unknown which weight class he’ll initially compete in.
Ortiz, 44, said after his win over Chuck Liddell in November that he was done fighting, though he seemed to change his mind shortly thereafter. Ortiz has come out of retirement before, so this isn’t anything new for the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy,” who is considered one of the all-time greats in MMA history
