NXT Takeover New York (4/5/2019) Play By Play Coverage

Before we get to WrestleMania 35, the NXT brand gets their chance to steal the weekend. Yes, we have reached Takeover New York, which features every match having a title on the line. It’s a big night for the NXT superstars, so let’s get to the action.

NXT Tag Team Championship: War Raiders (Hanson & Rowe) vs. Aleister Black & Ricochet

Both teams have the agility and they also have plenty of respect for each other. Tons of stiff shots and reveals. War Raiders have the match won before Black with a stomp off the top rope to break the pin. Everybody hits moves to the outside and the crowd is going nuts. We almost had new champions before Rowe breaks the pin. Ricochet’s 630 misses and War Raiders get the victory with fall out.

Winners: War Raiders (Hanson & Rowe) to remain NXT Tag Team Champions


Both teams show respect as that’s probably the end of Aleister Black and Ricochet in NXT. Black and Ricochet are left in the ring as the crowd chants “NXT” and “you deserve it.” They bow and Ricochet is crying.

NXT North American Championship: Velveteen Dream vs. Matt Riddle

Crowd seems split, with Velveteen Dream having the slight advantage. Dream’s antics don’t seem to work on Riddle, who is using submissions. Riddle is in control before Dream starts hulking up. Dream goes for the rainmaker and gets caught in another submission. Riddle goes for another submission and Dream is able to turn it into a three count.

Winner: Velveteen Dream to remain NXT North American Champion


Riddle is shocked after suffering his first NXT loss. Post-match, Dream accepts Riddles’ bro fist-bump.
