Welcome to CagedInsider’s coverage of UFC on ESPN+8, which is coming to us from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and features “Jacare” Souza versus Sweden’s Scrubby McScrib in the main event. The rest of the card has dudes like Greg Hardy, Mike Perry and a bunch of other fighters apt to appeal to the Florida crowd. But first, some prelims.
Angela Hill washed out of the UFC once before, but she got the seasoning she needed in Invicta FC, and after winning the belt there she showed up back in the Octagon.
Opponent Jodie Esquibel did her time in Invicta as well, and yet her UFC run has been less than stellar. I think it has something to do with her willingness to be a human punching bag. Which – surprise, surprise – was on full display in this bout.
Esquibel’s aggression had her putting Hill on the back-foot early on, but Hill’s strikes were simply too sharp and too accurate.
As the rounds wore on, things just got worse and worse for Esquibel…
…With Hill taking the unanimous decision when time ran out. Since this is her third UFC loss in a row, you have to think that Esquibel’s Octagon days might be ending soon.
