UFC London: Leon Edwards Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Leon Edwards extended his winning streak to seven today at UFC London, by outscoring Gunnar Nelson for a split decision win.

Nelson was able to take Edwards down not long into the fight. But, the latter got back to his feet not long after and proceeded to take Nelson down. As Nelson tried to scramble out, Edwards took his back along the cage, and the two battled from that position for a couple of minutes.

Nelson tried closing the distance and working the clinch in round two, but Edwards did a good job for much of the frame working his way out. Late in the round, Nelson was cracked by a hard punch as Edwards broke away from the clinch. Moments after, Nelson was sent to the deck by a booming hook, and Edwards poured down punches from above. Although Nelson made it through the round, he had massive swelling under his right eye.

Once again, Nelson tried to take Edwards down in round three, but the renowned grappler failed. Then, late in the round, Nelson was able to take the fight down and he moved into mount. Edwards held onto Nelson tight, however, and the latter was unable to land any big shots before the final horn went.
