During a Town Hall appearance on Tuesday, First Lady Melania Trump opened up about how she’s approached discussing drugs with her 12-year-old son Barron.

With the opioid crisis getting worse and worse in the United States, parents are having to discuss drugs with their children more now than ever before. Though Barron is still not yet a teenager, Melania sees it as important to start having open discussions about the dangers of drugs with children at an early age.

“I teach him, I try to explain how drugs are dangerous and how they will mess up your head, mess up your body and nothing positive comes of it,” Melania said at the Las Vegas Town Hall on the opioid crisis, according to Daily Mail.

Former Fox News host Eric Bolling, who tragically lost his own teenage son to a drug overdose in 2017, asked Melania at what age should parents warn their children about how dangerous drugs are.

“I think eight. Nowadays the children are so smart and the life is so fast and they have access to everything,” Melania said. “We need to teach them at very early age how bad drugs are.”

Regardless of anyone’s personal opinion of Melania, it can’t be denied that she is a very good and devoted mother to her son Barron. Raising a child in the White House is never easy, especially in the current political climate, but Melania seems to be navigating all of this with her son with grace. We appreciate all that she is doing to ensure that Barron’s generation will not be plagued by drugs the way previous ones have.

Melania Trump lashes out at mainstream media

Fox News reported that during this same Town Hall, Melania slammed the mainstream media for focusing on “idle gossip or trivial stories” rather than the opioid crisis.

“I think it should be on every media and the front pages of the newspaper, and I’m sure a lot of people would follow and go home and talk with the children and educate them, so they are responsible adults and they show them how drugs can be dangerous,” Melania said, going on to challenge the media to “devote as much time to the lives lost, and the potential lives that could be saved, by dedicating the same amount of coverage that you do to idle gossip or trivial stories.”

“When we see breaking news on TV, or the front pages of newspapers — it is my hope that it can be about how many lives we were able to save through education and honest dialogue,” she continued.

Few people know how ridiculous and deranged the mainstream media is more than Melania, as she has been hit with relentless attacks from them ever since moving into the White House. The leftwing media has shown time and time again that they are far more interested in humiliating the Trump family than they are in actually helping Americans avoid drugs. We applaud Melania for courageously calling out the media and for continuing to hold her head high amidst their attacks.
