Speculation On Women’s Tag Team Titles

– The Royal Rumble is known for being where The Road to Wrestlemania begins. The show lets fans see who will be competing in two of the title matches and also plants the seeds for some of marquee matches.

WWE has been changing plans consistently in recent weeks, as seen by the McMahon family wanting a ‘fresh start’ after ratings starting plummeting on RAW and SmackDown. During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted how plans are always changing but most of the Royal Rumble matches have been decided.

“I was told this weekend that 80% of the Royal Rumble has been booked,” said Alvarez. “There might be a couple of surprises in the Rumble match, which is hardly news and we’ll see what happens as far as the top championship matches on that show.”

Below is the confirmed card as of now.

– Last week, Vince McMahon finally confirmed what we were all waiting for—the introduction of Women’s Tag Team Championships. Since the announcement, WWE has not given out any more details.

Word is WWE ordered one set of titles and they will be used for RAW and SmackDown; plus, you never know if WWE does some cross promotion with NXT or NXT UK.

“It does appear that there will be a traveling set of Women’s Tag Team Championships,” said Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio. “Why there’s a traveling set of Women’s Tag Team Champions and everyone else has their own belts I have no idea.”

Of course, WWE could simply order another pair of titles. But, they probably want to build the women’s tag team division first. WWE has a number of female wrestlers on their roster, yet only a few have someone they can call a regular tag team partner.
