What Would Bring Edge Back? + Was Bryan-Lesnar Match Almost Stopped?+ Starrcade

-Whenever WWE brings back some nostalgia acts, it seems that, more often than not, it’s not a meaningful or even relevant appearance. As fans may recall from the recent SmackDown 1000, Edge was announced for the event, but then WWE un-announced him. The retired Rated-R Superstar did eventually agree to appear, taking part in a speaking segment with Becky Lynch.

Now, ringsidenews.com reports on just why he came back, and what it would take for him to come back again. Edge said that while he gets why some of the fluff pieces (like the APA poker game) make those shows, he wants no part of that. For him to come back, he wants to take part in a meaningful segment. Regarding the special episode of SmackDown, he said he was announced before he had agreed. That lead to WWE un-announcing him while they worked out what he’d do. His request was that his appearance be used to help get a current Superstar over in some fashion.

WWE had Edge appear with Becky Lynch, urging her not to turn heel.

Hopefully WWE finds more uses for Edge in the future, and hopefully other retired veterans continue to pay it forward.

-With Survivor Series in the books, hopefully you’ve watched the card. If you have not, stop reading now, as what follows will spoil it.

During the main event, Daniel Bryan took a number of big throws from Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. At times Bryan looked out of it, even grabbing his arm and hand, as if to indicate he was having issues similar to what forced him into a temporary retirement.

Now, in a video provided on wwe.com, referee Mike Chioda indicated that at times during the early portion of the match, he was close to calling it due to the beating Daniel Bryan was absorbing. As we know, the match was not called off and Bryan mounted a comeback, though he fell short.

In all likelihood, especially since the video was posted to wwe.com, Chioda’s comments are probably all part of the script. With him saying he almost called the match, but that during Bryan’s comeback he saw a look in the World Champion’s eyes that he may have never seen before, it certainly sounds and feels more storyline than anything else.

-Also, in case you missed it, WWE announced that Starrcade will be shown this Sunday on the WWE Network.
