Monday Night Raw Experiences Fourth Lowest Rating of the Modern Era

While it is no secret that Monday Night Raw has been struggling to pull in viewers, things took a turn for the worse this week.

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw failed to garner viewers and got its fourth lowest ratings in the modern era. Looking at the numbers, let’s try to figure out what the problems are with Raw.

Raw Experience One of the Biggest Drops in History

Raw lost a lot of its viewers during the actual airing of Monday Night Raw. The show started with 2.61 million viewers, but failed to keep their attention. By 10 pm, the number of viewers had dropped to 2.11 million.

Female Viewers Cause the Biggest Drop

Among the various categories of viewers watching Monday Night Raw, female viewers appeared to cause the biggest drop during the show. From the first to the third hour, adult female viewers dropped by 17 percent. Teenage girls on the other hand, dropped by 35 percent. So, it is clear Monday Night Raw no longer appeals to the female fan base, both teens and adults.

As a female viewer, I can relate to the drop in viewer rating. I felt my attention waning several times during Monday Night Raw, even though there is a lot of talent on the roster I am dying to see more of. Drew McIntyre is of them. Despite the talent-filled roster, the WWE fails to impress with interesting bookings or storylines.

What Is Going Wrong with Monday Night Raw?

There are so many things that are wrong with Monday Night Raw, it is difficult to pinpoint just one specific thing that caused viewership to drop.

However, one of the major things wrong with Raw is Brock Lesnar, the current Universal Champion. There are no interesting feuds nor interesting title defenses to look forward to with him as champ. There is loads of talent but the talent everyone wants to see, the WWE does not use to its maximum potential; for example, Finn Balor and Drew McIntyre.

When Seth Rollins defended his title this week, we were once again stuck with a Dolph Ziggler versus Seth Rollins match. Don’t get me wrong, both are excellent wrestlers, but we have seen this a million times before.

One positive point about Monday Night Raw is the current women’s champion Ronda Rousey. Unfortunately, she ends up in a rivalry nobody really cares about. I have nothing against Nia Jax, but her upcoming match with Rousey is not something I’m dying to see.

I fear for the future of Monday Night Raw if things do not change. They have the talent, but we are not seeing the matches they should be booking. Take the title from Brock Lesnar and give it to Finn or Drew, only then does the male roster have something to fight for…
