Update On Roman Reigns

– The news about Roman Reigns’ leukemia resurfacing after 11 years continues to send shock waves throughout the WWE Universe. As most know already, WWE’s Big Dog relayed a heartfelt promo last night to open up Monday Night RAW, relinquishing his Universal Championship due to this illness.

Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer chimed in on situation by noting that there is not any information on what type of leukemia the WWE superstar has, so it is hard to figure out what his odds around making a comeback will be or a timeline. At 33 years of age, Roman Reigns is still quite young, which means there is a good chance that the illness could return.

Meltzer also stated that as Roman was on WWE television last week, but not at any house shows this weekend, so it is more than likely that both Reigns and the company found out about this leukemia diagnosis within the last six days. Melzer also reported that there were many different stories going around yesterday during the day, and when he asked for more information, the response given was, “it’ll be addressed” during Monday Night RAW. Meltzer assumed Roman had an injury.

Wrestlenewz will continue to stay on top of this story, as more information comes down the pipe. In the meantime, on behalf of the entire staff here, we wish Roman Reigns a speedy recovery, and we can’t wait until the day we can report on his comeback to in-ring action.

– Roman Reigns’ announcement last night was shocking; however, it wasn’t the only surprising part of Monday Night RAW. For fans who didn’t tuned into the show, Elias turned face when he attacked RAW’s General Manager Baron Corbin with a guitar, and Dean Ambrose floored the entire WWE Universe when he turned heel after winning the RAW Tag Team Championships with Seth Rollins, attacking his partner after they were given the titles.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, both turns were a part of the plan; however, both weren’t supposed to take place further into the future. With losing their top star and Universal Champion at that, clearly the WWE needed to regroup and make some big decisions last night in order to move forward with storylines and try to fill the void that has been now left empty, due to Roman Reigns’ condition.

Interestingly enough, while storylines proceeded between Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman, last week’s Claymore Kick seemed like a face turn for Drew; however, this week it was clear that the Monster Among Men was acting as more of the face, with McIntyre as heel, within that up-and-coming program. The WWE really switched it up well last night.
