The Rock Appearing On SD LIVE 1000? Who’s Runs WWE Television

– WWE continues to hype up it’s SmackDown LIVE 1000 show, and with the celebration just over a week away, time is running out when it comes to locking in past superstars. While there are some huge names already slated for the show, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter it seems that WWE is trying to secure an appearance by The Rock.

Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but with Dwayne Johnson being one of the biggest names to come out of the WWE, and with SmackDown once being known as “The Rock’s show”, it would undeniably be an incredible thing if he did show up.

While Johnson is currently filming his Fast & The Furious spin-off flick, Hobbs and Shaw, it wouldn’t be that out of the ordinary if the WWE made arrangements to fly The Rock in for a quick promo that night, and ensure he’s back to his regular filming schedule. We’ll have to wait and see if this does indeed happen.

– Speaking of SmackDown LIVE, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently confirmed that Vince McMahon is still the head honcho at the WWE, making the final decisions when it comes to both the Red and Blue brand shows.

According to the report, Dave Kapoor (a.k.a. Ranjin Singh/Great Khali’s brother on WWE T.V.) is RAW’s showrunner, meaning that he offers input around the show’s structure and which superstar is aligned with which writer. Meanwhile, Ed Koskey is RAW’s lead writer, and has worked with the brand for about 20 years now.

When it comes to SD LIVE, Road Dogg and Ryan Ward lead things. While wrestling fans are quite familiar with Brian James, Ward has been with the company for about nine years now.

It was also stated that the writers do not meet with McMahon at the headquarters of the WWE, but do see him at television. HHH has a tremendous amount of input when it comes to creative as well. Still, it seems that more often than not, Vince tells writers what he wants to see, and they make it happen.
