Dear WWE Creative, Who Wants To See A Bunch Of Old Guys Fight?

Dear WWE Creative,

Who wants to see a bunch of old men, well into the their 50s, battle it out for bragging rights over issues that stem years ago?

THIS GIRL, that’s who. And I’m betting I’m not the only one.

You know WWE Creative, I love wrestling. I wouldn’t watch every week and write about it if I didn’t. And while there are many out there potentially rolling their eyes about the thoughts that Undertaker versus HHH is happening – again – with Shawn Michaels and Kane in the mix to boot; the reality is, each time one of these men have hit the mic for a promo leading up to the WWE’s Super Show-Down (SSD), the RAW crowd has gone nuts, and social media explodes.

Because long-time fans love nostalgia, we love it when current storylines dig into past ones. Watching HHH and The Undertaker banter back and forth as of late for WWE SSD is like slipping into a t-shirt and sweat pants after a long hard day at the office; it just feels good, it just feels right.

Even WWE Haller of Famer Kevin Nash recently chimed in on the SSD feud, stating that:

“No one cares about the young guys. When I watched Summerslam that (Undertaker and Tripe H) package caught my eye and made me want to see that match. I don’t know if I want to see Roman Reigns versus Undertaker again. What more of a rub can you give than that? He’s [been] given rubs before and they just aren’t getting over.”

Now, this letter certainly isn’t about Roman Reigns being over or not, I’ve written too many times about that; however, it is about the fact that Nash nailed one thing I agree on, and that is Undertaker and HHH catching everyone’s eye with this program, and the WWE Universe wanting to see Hunter and the Phenom go at it, one last time. While their chapter was seemingly closed back at Wrestlemania 28, their End of an Era match, rehashing the story lately has been an incredible watch. It’s a story most fans are captivated by, and really want to see. The chemistry these two men have, and by extension HBK and Kane, still ignites something powerful within the fans in the arena and at home.

So, yes, to answer my own question, I am very excited to see a bunch of legends go at it tomorrow morning and I’ll be waking up at 4:30 a.m. to make sure I am good and ready for SSD’s EST start of 5 a.m. I don’t want to miss one moment, and can’t wait to watch the final match unfold between two iconic sports entertainers that have carved a tremendous legacy in this business.

Signed,

Me.
