Stats Reveal Chicago Is No Safer With Stricter Laws

Liberals are constantly calling for stricter gun control laws, claiming that these laws would dramatically decrease gun violence. That’s why they are trying to ignore what is happening in the city of Chicago, which continues to be one of the most violent cities in the U.S. despite being controlled by Democrats who have put strict gun control laws in place.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Sunday was the second most violent day of the year in Chicago, as 26 people were shot in the city in just 18 hours. A total of 42 people were shot in Chicago this weekend altogether, five of them fatally.

The only other day that was more violent in Chicago this year was Sunday was August 5, a day that saw 41 people get shot, and 75 people in total were shot throughout the entire weekend.

Wow, it seems that all those liberal gun control laws are really doing wonders for the city of Chicago!

Chicago has long been led by Democrats who have put some of the strictest gun laws in the country in place there. Breitbart said it best in describing just how much of a fail the gun control laws in Chicago really are:

Chicago is a gun control experiment gone bad. The city had a complete ban on handguns from 1982 to 2010, during which time homicide rates soared. The city currently has a “violence tax” which requires law-abiding citizens to pay an extra fee on every gun and bullet they buy. The tax was implemented in 2013, and homicides rose in 2014 and again in 2015.

This shows once and for all that the only people that are affected by stricter gun laws are legal gun owners who pose no threat to the community. Criminals will always find a way to get their hands on guns, whether they are legal in their communities or not. Liberals who are now calling for stricter gun control laws in the wake of last Saturday’s synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh should do some research into the situation in Chicago and reconsider their opinion that gun control laws will fix gun violence forever.
