WWE continues to make history when it comes to women in wrestling. The 2nd Mae Young Classic is underway, and we’re one month away from the first ever all Women’s PPV, EVOLUTION. Adding to that though, WWE has begun to put women behind the commentary desk. Renee Young and Beth Phoenix joined Michael Cole at commentary for the Mae Young Classic. Phoenix previously worked with Cole on the Mixed Match Challenge. Renee Young has filled in as a guest commentator on RAW a few times over the last month.
Renee was excited about the opportunity espn.com.
“When Michael told me, I was like, ‘This Monday?! What are you talking about?!’,” Young said. “I am so excited for this opportunity. To be sitting with Cole, who has been such a great champion of mine since I’ve been working for WWE, it’s going to be really cool.”
After nailing her auditions, WWE is making an even BIGGER move. Renee Young will now be a permanent member of RAW commentary, replacing Coach. CONGRATS RENEE!! Renee will be the first full-time female commentator in WWE history. Coachman will replace Renee as the host of PPV Kick-Off Shows.
We’ll see Renee and a lot of other women on commentary and in other traditionally male roles in WWE soon.
