Jim Kelly surgery

Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly has been battling cancer since 2013. The Kellys haven’t allowed his diagnosis to impact their faith and quality of life, though. Instead, they find strength from their belief in God and are asking for prayers as Jim is having another surgery.

The Buffalo Bills legend’s wife Jill posted a faith-filled Instagram post. The family is very grateful for all the prayers Jim has been receiving. They have helped carry them through this battle since Jim’s cancer returned earlier this year. In a 12-hour March surgery, Jim had part of his jaw removed in his fight for restored health.

“Honestly, I don’t know how he does it other than the grace of God and the prayers of so many,” Jill told her Instagram followers in the post below.

“I will be doing a lot of praying tomorrow as I wait for Jim to come out of recovery,” she continued. If there’s anything you’d like me to pray about for you, please share below. To God be the Glory!”

Even in a time of great concern in their own family, the Kellys are offering to pray for others! These are truly people of God!

Kelly was also in surgery in June to have tissue added to his upper jaw to prepare for this most recent surgery of getting permanent dentures. His daughter Erin shared a picture of him as he was waiting to go back into the operating room. She also requested prayers for him. This has been a tough year medically for Jim, but his spirits remain high!

Two months ago, Kelly was awarded the Jimmy V Award at the ESPYs. The Hall of Famer’s acceptance speech demonstrated his difficulty speaking and his persistence in overcoming that as you can see in the tweeted video below. God willing, this surgery will help alleviate his struggle.
