Jim Kelly has had a lot of ups and downs in his battle against cancer, but his wife shared an update that will leave a lot of his supporters cheering.
In 2013, the legendary Buffalo Bills quarterback was diagnosed with cancer in his upper jaw. He was declared cancer-free after surgery, only to have the cancer return the following year. After being treated in 2014, he went into remission until it came back earlier this year. Jim Kelly has been fighting the dreaded disease at each twist and turn, but now there is good news to report.
His wife Jill posted an update on Instagram that Jim has once again been declared cancer free. “PRAISE THE LORD,” she wrote in the grateful post that celebrates her husband’s latest victory against oral cancer. She mentioned that Jim is so lucky to have the love and support of his tight-knit family.
Earlier this month, Jim shared how important his faith is to his journey during his emotional speech accepting the Jimmy V award at the ESPYs. His speech may have been affected by his cancer battle, but he made his points clear. He said when he was younger, he believed life’s mantra was “fun, family, friends and fans.” Now he has replaced “fun” with “faith.” Faith has become the most important as he believes God has a plan for everything.

Jim Kelly has a tremendous amount of support from his loving family and also the Buffalo Bills community. Many people have been lifting him up in prayer and it is making a world of difference to him.
Faith has become a central part of his life ever since his son Hunter was diagnosed with a fatal disease of the nervous system. Hunter lived eight years, but the foundation established in his name, Hunter’s Hope Foundation, is helping other families dealing with Krabbe Leukodystrophy.
Jim Kelly believes God has a plan, even in times of tragedy. He made up a little saying that reminds us to continue to live for others. “Make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow.”
