Last month, country music star Carrie Underwood announced to her fans that she was pregnant with her second child with her husband, Mike Fisher. Now, Underwood is opening up about why she chose to announce her pregnancy.

Inquisitr reported that as she promoted her new album “Cry Pretty,” Underwood explained that she revealed her pregnancy to the public when she did because she felt that her baby bump had gotten too big for her to hide. It was difficult for her to come to the decision to announce the pregnancy as she feared that she might be doing so too soon.

“Obviously, you kind of want to reach a point in your pregnancy where you’re sure that everything is going well before you let other people in on it,” she said. “Stuff like that was important. You don’t want to jump the gun and then have to take it back.”

That’s why Underwood decided that she would keep her pregnancy a secret until it was no longer possible for her to hide it.

“And then one day I woke up looking like this,” Underwood joked as she showed off her baby bump, “and I was like, ‘I guess today’s the day. I can’t hide this anymore.”

She went on to joke that she found herself wearing oversized sweatshirts going to the grocery store in 90-degree weather just to hide her bump, so she knew that it “was just time to put it out there.”

Underwood is already the mother to 3 year-old Isaiah, and she has long expressed her wishes to expand her family.

This comes days after Underwood was forced to cancel two concerts in the United Kingdom “due to illness.” Fans are praying that her illness is nothing serious and that all is still well with her pregnancy.
