Top WWE Executive Passes Away

Former WWE Executive Ed Cohen has passed away. Cohen was an early WWF employee who helped the company grow. He booked live events (aka House Shows) and venues for TV tapings. In the embryonic stages of WWF, this was the company’s main source of income. This allowed WWF to acquire major talent and TV deals that would lead them to become the world’s largest and most influential wrestling and entertainment company. Here’s more from Mean Gene Okerlund.

Dave Meltzer also chimed in with a remembrance

Here is the statement from WWE:

“WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of beloved former WWE Live Events executive Ed Cohen. Cohen was instrumental in helping to transform WWE’s Live Event touring business into the global phenomenon it is today.

The company would like to express its sincerest condolences to Mr. Cohen’s family and friends. He will be greatly missed.”
