tim conway dementia

Tim Conway has kept us laughing decades after “The Carol Burnett Show” ended and now he and his family are in need of some serious prayers.

It has been revealed that the 84-year-old has such serious dementia that he is “almost unresponsive.” This is known from court documents filed by the star’s daughter Kelly who is seeking to be appointed conservator of her father’s person, which would enable her to make medical decisions for Conway.

Kelly is concerned about her stepmother Charlene’s plan to “move him out of the excellent skilled nursing facility he is currently at.” The concerned daughter believes Conway is getting the best care at the current location and believes it will be detrimental to move him. Court documents reveal that Kelly is concerned as the new location wouldn’t give him access to “registered nurses at all times and his 24-hour caregiver and speech therapist (to help with swallowing).”

This is such a sad situation. Not only are they dealing with losing Tim in such a debilitating way, but they’re also in a family feud. They certainly could use our prayers. Dementia is such a cruel fate and it’s not just the person battling it that suffers. It is horrific to see someone you love decline in this way.

The Cleveland native was discovered by Rose Marie from “The Dick Van Dyke Show” when she was on a trip to his hometown. She told Steve Allen about Conway and the rest was history. Prior to entertaining us on “The Carol Burnett Show,” Conway was Ensign Parker on “McHale’s Navy.”

Tim Conway could make us laugh in a way nobody else could. He often would have his castmates bursting out during skits as he would go off script. This made things challenging for them, but we loved to watch as the actors had trouble keeping it together thanks to Conway’s antics.

Harvey Korman was the most susceptible to being one of Conway’s comedic “victims.” Once, Korman actually wet his pants laughing so hard at Conway! Watch the video below to see Harvey losing his composure as Tim pretends to be a dog during a skit.

The Conway family certainly could use our prayers now.
