While Chick-fil-A Shuts Down for Remodel, Employees Won’t Have Idle Hands

Chick-fil-A doesn’t just blow away the competition by having the best tasting fast food, but the chain also has a reputation for being an important part of their community. An Indiana location is proving that to be true by giving back in epic fashion.

The Chick-fil-A in Plainfield, Indiana will be undergoing a remodel this fall. The restaurant will be forced to close its doors for two weeks. This normally would mean that their 100 employees would not be getting a paycheck during that time. But, owner Chris Spires has other plans.

Spires is sending his Chick-fil-A employees into the area to perform community service during the remodel. Even better, he is paying them to do this important work. They will be focusing on helping at schools, parks, and Active Grace, an organization where the homeless are assisted in transitioning from life on the streets. He is also taking suggestions for other places for his employees to serve.

This costly endeavor is important to Spires who is grateful to all the support locals have given to his restaurant. Typical of many Chick-fil-As, the Plainfield location is usually busy. Now, he wants to repay that favor while ensuring his employees aren’t missing a paycheck.

“For the past 14 years, I have served the Plainfield community side by side with some amazing Team Members,” said Spires. “The support of our amazing community is the reason we are able to expand and renovate our restaurant. We are thrilled to spend some time while we are closed supporting organizations that make Plainfield and the surrounding areas such a wonderful place to live and do business.”

This is just another reason why so many of us love Chick-fil-A. The food is great and we can feel good about supporting this Christian-based food chain.
