Stress is one of the most impactful forces in our lives, and it doesn’t discriminate. Whether young or old, rich or poor, everyone gets stressed from time to time – even former “Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson.

Robertson recently admitted to her 3.1 million Instagram followers that she’s been struggling with stress as of late. “Y’all I’m going to be real … stress has been knocking at my door lately,” she wrote.

However, Robertson said that whenever stress creeps up, we must remember to have faith in God’s plan – no matter how hard that may seem at the moment.

“I have to intentionally remind myself to fix my eyes. When walking out our purpose in life there is a process to go through to get to the promise that God has for us. In the natural [realm] that process can look really hard at times and even seem impossible, but in those moments you must FIX YOUR EYES, maintain your focus on hope, and walk in faith. Don’t [lose] sight that the promise and the purpose will always be worth the process.”

Robertson compared the “process” we must go through to training, and stated that whenever we feel weak or alone, we must turn our eyes to our trainer: God.

“Training is not always easy, but it’s necessary. Take note of the training times, because the very proof that you are walking out the purpose and into a promising of what God has for you is the TRAINING that you’re enduring. When you get tired… when you get stressed… when you feel weak… when you feel alone… FIX YOUR EYES.”

Robertson then shared the Bible scripture that she looks to in times of stress: Hebrews 12:2, 5-6 (TPT), which reminds Christians to look to Christ as an example of faithful endurance through hardship:

We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!

And have you forgotten his encouraging words spoken to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t underestimate the value of the discipline and training of the Lord God, or get depressed when he has to correct you. For the Lord’s training of your life is the evidence of his faithful love. And when he draws you to himself, it proves you are his delightful child.”

What a beautiful testament and reminder to turn our eyes upon Jesus in times of struggle. Sadie Robertson continues to be an outstanding role model in a world where other social media “influencers” are encouraging young people to eat Tide pods and jump out of moving cars. While social media is incredible in that it connects people all over the world, it’s also proven to be harmful to young people’s mental and emotional health – and a huge source of stress. But Robertson never fails to share relatable messages of struggle, hope, faithfulness, and positivity with her millions of followers, and she’s not afraid to share the word of God with those who need to hear it.
