The fast-acting crew on a JetBlue flight are being applauded as heroes after saving the life of a French Bulldog who was having a medical crisis.

3-year-old Darcy’s owner Michele Burt noticed that she was having trouble breathing when she started panting and her tongue turned blue. Flight attendant Renaud Fenster noticed what was going on. As a French Bulldog owner himself, he understood the breathing challenges this breed faces. Cabin pressure certainly was adding to Darcy’s distress.

Fenster told the Captain the dog needed oxygen immediately. Permission was granted and the JetBlue staff helped save Darcy’s life. After getting oxygen through a mask, she perked right back up!

Oxygen was just what this adorable pooch needed. She rebounded like a champ. Michele Burt is incredibly grateful to the JetBlue staff she credits with saving her dog’s life.

“I placed the mask over her face, and within a few minutes she became alert and after a short time, she didn’t want the mask,” Darcy’s owner said. “I believe [crew members] Renaud and Diane saved a life, some may reduce the value of the life because Darcy is a canine. I do not.”

Burt took a picture of Darcy and her hero before exiting the plane.

There are plenty of horror stories from airline flights. This is perhaps a sign that friendly skies might be back on the horizon. JetBlue stated the airline looks to make flights safe for everyone who flies.

“We all want to make sure everyone has a safe and comfortable flight, including those with four legs,” JetBlue told ABC News. “We’re thankful for our crew’s quick thinking and glad everyone involved was breathing easier when the plane landed in Worcester.”
